What a difference nine years and seven more minutes makes!
I’ve watched a few handfuls of silent shorts in the last coupl’a years and this was one of the better ones I’ve seen.
In just thirteen minutes this one covered the full story of Dickens’ work pretty well, while still using special effects comparable to the 1901 version. Better title cards to read helped, and the music added to the enhanced version I found on YouTube, linked below.
All said, the tech was still a limiting factor, but they got the mood of the source material pitch perfect and I was entertained for thirteen minutes.
