Under Construction
Rick Retro’s Realm, Behind the Scenes #26: The site-building is underway and then building community comes next.
Hi, everyone. Thanks to those of you who made the move with me from the text group over here to Substack. We lost six who didn’t move over with us, but I’m grateful for their contributions while they were following along with us. We’ve added two new subscribers to our community and look forward to more growth in the future.
I’m still working on moving the posts from the text group over to Substack. Almost everything except the reviews have been moved over. As you’ve probably noticed, I’ve been enhancing the old reviews with pictures as well as such things as a short introductory subtitle and the dreaded subscription requests. So it takes time, but that’s my current Behind-the-Scenes job number one. And I still want to re-watch and re-review those to bring them to the level of the new reviews, but that’s job number three.
Behind-the-Scenes job number two, which will probably never really end, is to grow the number of subscribers. Perhaps I should focus on that more even now, but I’m content to be patient and wait until I feel that the product I offer is as compelling as I want it to be. Most of the best Substacks are great writers producing a series of great individual posts. I’m trying to go beyond that and create a great website. Once that relatively different foundation is established, then I will also look to build a great community as other writers have succeeded at doing here.
On a scheduling note, the review you were expecting today, The Sound of Music, will be released tomorrow instead. I had some interesting unexpected reactions to my recent viewing, and I want to get the review just right. Please forgive me for the delay, but I think that this review is an important one. I expect to release the following review on the previously scheduled date, February 25.
Thanks for your support.
